About the Concert
Our first performance of the afternoon will be Rossini's Overture The Silken Ladder, a delightful and lively piece that showcases Rossini's signature style of intricate melodies and playful rhythms. The overture sets the stage for an afternoon filled with musical brilliance and excitement.
Following Rossini's Overture, we will be treated to Schumann's Cello Concerto, a masterpiece of the Romantic era. The concerto, performed by our esteemed Soloist Hugh Mackay, is a poignant and expressive work that highlights the lyrical qualities of the cello.
To conclude our program, we have Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 (Eroica), a monumental work that revolutionised the symphonic form.
